Before Rosie

Long before America's Rosie the Riveter represented women in the workplace during war, the French were already in the game.  Women like these worked in munitions factories from 1914 through 1918 to support the war effort while troops fought under the hellish conditions of trench warfare at the front.  Photo by Roger Viollet, 1914.
